My first post described a "mini" synchronistic event. I've decided not to blog in chronological order but instead to describe events as they come to my memory. One of the most life saving synchronicities in my life happened during the mid-1980's. Our family purchased two vacant logs next to our home. There were a few trees on one of the lots, but for the most part it was all grass which had to be cut every Saturday. It usually took me about eight hours to cut all of the grass. (The lots were approximately 200' x 75' each and our home was also on a lot that measured about the same. ) Some of the lawn was difficult to cut because of the steep inclines. I was determined to keep it up so that it was a nice place for our children to play.
It was during the fourth summer of ownership that the most amazing event happened. The weekly mowing was almost complete. I had probably two passes that were approximately 50' long to be completely finished with the mowing. As I started down the first row a thought just popped into my head. "Hmmmm - kind of interesting that I've never hit a mud wasp nest during my mowing for the past three years." I'm very allergic to bee stings. Even a small sweat bee sting gives my a pretty strong allergic reaction. Immediately, the next thought occurred "What would I do if I hit a mud wasp next?" It was at this point that it sounded like a chorus of voices in my head screaming "RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNN!!!" I immediately let go of the lawn mower and started running. As I looked back I saw a huge cloud of stinging insects repeatedly attacking the running lawn mower. I never ran so fast in my entire life. Breathlessly, I ran into the house and slammed the door behind me. I looked out the kitchen window and could see the cloud of stinging creatures attacking the lawn mower over and over again. At this point my husband came into the kitchen and asked me why I left the lawn mower in the middle of the vacant lot. I pointed out the obvious and he told me it was a bad idea to waste gas and leave the lawmower running. I invited him to go and retrieve it - which he promptly refused to do. I know that the thought about the impending danger and that listening to the subsequent loud and strong message saved my life that day.
My message to you is to pay attention to the subtle and not so subtle messages that are sent to you. Trust your instincts - I'm just sayin' - it might be a life saver!
